$270,000 for Lake Macquarie projects

The NSW Government has granted three projects a combined $270,000 which will deliver new mental and physical health programs and community infrastructure across Lake Macquarie.
Parliamentary Secretary for the Hunter Catherine Cusack announced this week that $271,414 from the NSW Government's Stronger Country Communities Fund would be spent in Lake Macquarie following successful applications from Tantrum Theatre Cooperative, Live Life Get Active and Macquarie Shores Swimming Club.
Tantrum Theatre Cooperative and Live Life Get Active secured $123,264 and $95,625 respectively to fund their their health and well-being programs while Macquarie Shores Swimming Club will be granted $52,525 for a new all-accessible public barbeque area complete with a weather-proof shelter.
"Tantrum Theatre's Opening Doors is a unique and immersive program for youth aged 15-18, delivered by Tantrum Youth Arts in partnership with local support services," Ms Cusack said.
"The program, delivered through secondary schools, empowers young people to engage in healthy and respectful relationships, and increases their confidence in seeking help when they need it.
"It combines the power of live performance with robust discussion to explore important topics like domestic violence, text/photo messaging and power and control in relationships."
Live Life Get Active is a health promotion charity that addresses social disconnection, and mental and physical health issues facing communities.
"Live Life Get Active provide daily activity programs such as yoga, cross-training and boxing as well as tailored nutritional programs and educational seminars. All services are free and delivered by local professionals," Ms Cusack said.
Member for Lake Macquarie Greg Piper welcomed funding for the projects, saying they will help to promote an active lifestyle in the local community.
"In particular I want to congratulate Macquarie Shores Swimming Club which is doing an outstanding job from its home base at Toronto," Mr Piper said.
"The club is very active and very well run, and is quickly making its mark in the pool, the community and throughout the State."
Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional NSW John Barilaro said $100 million was being distributed across regional NSW, with over $50 million to fund infrastructure and programs designed to directly benefit regional youth.
To date, rounds one and two of the program have funded more than 1000 projects.
The $400 million Stronger Country Communities Fund is part of the NSW Government's $1.7 billion Regional Growth Fund, which is being invested in local programs and infrastructure that improve the lives of people living in regional NSW.
