Work starts on Morisset playground upgrade
4th August 2020
Great to see that Lake Mac council has started work on the new playground at Morisset's Bernie Goodwin Oval.
We managed to secure more than $600,000 in State funds for the playground back in 2018, with the council chipping in a similar amount, but the site has been plagued with problems ever since.
Most notably, construction works uncovered large amounts of asbestos in the ground.
It required more than 3500 cubic metres of soil to fix the contamination.
There were other issues as well, but I'm pleased they've been resolved, and that the trees will be kept, and work has started on what will be a fantastic two-tiered playground with a skate park, barbecue areas and exercise equipment.
It'll be an awesome spot when completed as these artist's impressions show.
