?? Covid update - Monday ??
?? For the 11th consecutive day there were no new cases in the Hunter-New England region over the past 24 hours. Thanks to everyone who is doing their bit to keep it that way.
?? Seven new cases statewide over the same period. Of those, one is a returned traveller in hotel quarantine. The other six were locally acquired (three linked to a Sydney restaurant, two linked to the outbreak at a Parramatta school and one was a worker at Parramatta Court). Close contacts are being traced and isolated.
?? There were sadly another 25 deaths recorded in Victoria over the past 24 hours. As I've mentioned in previous posts, we are now seeing the devastating results of those high case numbers in Victoria a week ago. Victoria recorded 282 new cases in the past 24 hours.
?? Australia's death toll now stands at 421, including 54 in NSW and 330 in Victoria.
?? The Premier has today flagged new guidelines for schools. You can read more about them here: https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2020/aug/17/nsw-bans-state-school-formals-graduation-ceremonies-and-choirs-under-new-covid-safe-rules
?? Active cases in NSW remain steady at 904, but are now above 8000 in Victoria.
?? Please continue to stay safe, vigilant, maintain the social distancing, and wear a mask if you have to visit places where social distancing is difficult.
?? If you notice any symptoms, please self-isolate and get tested as soon as possible.
