?? Covid update - Thursday ??
?? Two weeks, no new cases in the Hunter-New England region!
?? This means that the case involving the St Pius school student two weeks ago has been contained to himself and two family members. No spread and no new cases were detected from all the schools, pubs and other venues put on the watch list at the time. Thanks to all the health agencies involved, and more importantly all those contacts who got tested and have been isolation for two weeks.
?? Statewide, five new cases have been recorded.
?? Of those five, two are returned travellers in hotel quarantine while the other three were locally acquired in south-west Sydney. Those cases are still being investigated but the people and all close contacts are now in isolation.
?? There were 240 new cases recorded in Victoria over the past 24 hours and 13 more deaths.
?? Australia's death toll now stands at 463, including 54 in NSW and 376 in Victoria.
?? Active cases stand at 920 in NSW and 7341 in Victoria.
?? The major concern for health authorities remains the number of cases where no source has been confirmed. There are now more than 20 cases in NSW with no known source, which means the virus is still circulating in the community undetected and could pop up anywhere in a new cluster.
?? Please continue to stay safe, vigilant, maintain the social distancing, and wear a mask if you have to visit places where social distancing is difficult.
?? If you notice any symptoms, please self-isolate and get tested as soon as possible.
