?? Covid update - Friday ??
?? No new cases in the Hunter-New England region over the past 24 hours and just one new case statewide. That's very encouraging news, and the 15th consecutive day without a new case in our region. It's also worth noting that the one new case came despite a massive 32,580 tests in the past 24 hours.
?? The one NSW case is a close contact of a previously reported case at Hornsby. NSW Health advise that the person was in isolation before the start of their infectious period.
?? There were 179 new cases recorded in Victoria over the past 24 hours and 9 more deaths, so those figures are continuing to fall.
?? Australia's death toll now stands at 472, including 54 in NSW and 385 in Victoria.
?? There has also been a substantial drop in the number of active cases - down to 4964 in Victoria and 234 in NSW.
?? As I mentioned yesterday, the major concern for health authorities remains the number of cases where no source has been confirmed. There are now more than 20 cases in NSW with no known source, which means the virus is still circulating in the community undetected and could pop up anywhere in a new cluster.
?? Please continue to stay safe, vigilant, maintain the social distancing, and wear a mask if you have to visit places where social distancing is difficult.
?? If you notice any symptoms, please self-isolate and get tested as soon as possible.
