?? Covid update - Saturday ??
?? No new cases in the Hunter-New England region over the past 24 hours - 16 consecutive days.
?? Nine new cases statewide over the same period.
?? Of those nine, four are close contacts of a previously reported case, one is a household contact of a case linked to the Tangara school in Sydney, and two are household contacts of a case linked to the Bankstown funeral cluster. The other two are under investigation but are both in Sydney, and are now isolated with close contacts.
?? There were 182 new cases recorded in Victoria over the past 24 hours and 13 more deaths. There’s also been nine new cases in Queensland over the past 24 hours with six linked to the youth detention centre outbreak in Brisbane.
?? Australia's death toll now stands at 485 including 54 in NSW and 398 in Victoria.
?? There has also been a further drop in the number of active cases - down to 4514 in Victoria and 231 in NSW.
?? As I mentioned yesterday, the major concern for health authorities remains the number of cases where no source has been confirmed. There are now more than 20 cases in NSW with no known source, which means the virus is still circulating in the community undetected and could pop up anywhere in a new cluster.
?? Please continue to stay safe, vigilant, maintain the social distancing, and wear a mask if you have to visit places where social distancing is difficult.
?? If you notice any symptoms, please self-isolate and get tested as soon as possible.
