?? Covid update - Monday ??
?? No new cases in the Hunter-New England region in the past 24 hours - that's 25 consecutive days.
?? There were 10 new cases reported statewide over the past 24 hours. Of those, six are returned travellers in quarantine and four are from known clusters (two are household contacts of a previously reported case and two are close contacts of a previously reported case).
?? There were just 73 new cases recorded in Victoria over the past 24 hours but a further 41 deaths have been reported in that State. Of those deaths, 19 occurred yesterday and 22 occurred in the weeks leading up to August 27 in aged care facilities but have only now been reported. The Victorian Premier is expected to provide an explanation later today on why those deaths are only being revealed now.
?? Australia's death toll now stands at 652, with the NSW toll still at 54 and Victoria's climbing to 565.
?? The number of active cases in NSW stands at 181. The number of active cases in Victoria is still falling but stands at 2830.
?? There are currently more than a dozen cases in NSW with no known source, which means the virus is still circulating in the community undetected and could pop up anywhere in a new cluster.
?? Please continue to stay safe, vigilant, maintain the social distancing, and wear a mask if you have to visit places where social distancing is difficult.
?? If you notice any symptoms, please self-isolate and get tested as soon as possible.
