I just want to send a shout out to all of our local Covid nurses and in particular those people doing the tracking and testing. You are amazing, you are world class and I seriously don't know where we'd be without you.
Amid all the Covid noise in the media, it's very easy to forget just how fortunate we've been in NSW during this global pandemic. And that's not all about luck, it's about our health agencies doing a brilliant job, and the trackers and testers who have pretty much kept a lid on every major outbreak over the past few months.
Did you know that despite our relatively small population, Australia has carried out the 12th highest number of Covid tests in the world (6.25m)? Per capita, our testing rate is also among the highest in the world and is on par with that in the US which has been the worst affected country (244,000 tests per million people in Australia).
It's been an extraordinary effort so far. It's an effort that has saved so many lives. So thank you!!
