?? COVID UPDATE - Thursday October 8
?? Well, the run of good news has come to an end. ??
?? After 12 days of zero community transmission, NSW has recorded 12 new cases in the past 24 hours. Of those, just four are returned travellers in hotel quarantine and the other 8 were acquired in the communities of SW Sydney.
?? Of those eight, seven are linked to the Liverpool Hospital cluster and one is still being investigated. Contact tracing is in overdrive, so here's hoping the trackers manage to locate and lock down all known contacts and isolate them.
?? The only good news is that the Hunter-New England region has now gone 62 days without a new case being diagnosed.
?? There were 11 new cases reported in Victoria over the past 24 hours but no deaths. No new cases in QLD or WA.
?? Australia's death toll remains at 897, with the NSW toll still at 55 and Victoria's at 809.
?? The number of active cases in NSW is now 35. There are 203 (down 3) active cases in Victoria with 4 in Queensland (down 3) and 9 in WA (down 5).
?? Please continue to stay safe, vigilant, maintain the social distancing, and wear a mask if you have to visit places where social distancing is difficult.
?? Don't forget, if you have any symptoms, however minor, please self-isolate and get tested as soon as possible.
