Covid update - Monday

?? COVID UPDATE - Monday October 12
?? Some very encouraging news about last week's new cases in Sydney - there were just six new cases reported in NSW over the past 24 hours and five of them are returned travellers in hotel quarantine. The other is a household contact of a previously reported case so was already isolating.
?? The Hunter-New England region has now gone 66 days without a locally-acquired case.
?? Just as an aside, the number of new cases in Europe and the US are climbing again in huge numbers. The daily rate of new infections throughout Europe is back over 100,000 a day, with the US recording about 50,000 new cases daily. None of us will be going overseas any time soon, and who would want to?
?? There were 15 new cases reported in Victoria over the past 24 hours but no deaths. No new cases in QLD or WA.
?? Australia's death toll remains at 898, with the NSW toll still at 55 and Victoria's at 810.
?? The number of active cases in NSW is 24. There are 191 active cases in Victoria, 4 in QLD, 15 in WA, 5 in SA and none anywhere else.
?? Please continue to stay safe, vigilant, maintain the social distancing, and wear a mask if you have to visit places where social distancing is difficult.
?? Don't forget, if you have any symptoms, however minor, please self-isolate and get tested as soon as possible.
