?? COVID UPDATE - Wednesday October 7
?? Keep it going NSW! NO community transmission anywhere in NSW for the 12th consecutive day.
?? There were 3 new cases reported statewide over the past 24 hours, but all are returned travellers who were already in hotel quarantine.
?? The Hunter-New England region has now gone 61 days without a new case being diagnosed.
?? There were 6 new cases reported in Victoria over the past 24 hours and two deaths. No new cases in QLD or WA.
?? Australia's death toll stands at 897, with the NSW toll still at 55 and Victoria's at 809.
?? The number of active cases in NSW is 29 (down 7). There are 206 (down 21) active cases in Victoria with 7 in Queensland (steady) and 14 in WA (down 2).
?? I was asked yesterday about the difference between 'active cases' and 'being treated' (which is included in the NSW Health graphic). Basically, 'active cases' are those which are still in the infectious stage. The 'being treated' number is generally higher because it includes people who are still being treated for complications after the infectious period has passed. It also includes a small number of people from interstate being treated in NSW hospitals.
?? Please continue to stay safe, vigilant, maintain the social distancing, and wear a mask if you have to visit places where social distancing is difficult.
?? Testing rates throughout the State are down. Please, if you have any symptoms, please self-isolate and get tested as soon as possible.
