?? BREAKING NEWS: The Premier has today announced changes to some restrictions and flagged plans for NYE celebrations.
?? In short, public events such as regional Christmas Carols and NYE celebrations can host up to 3000 people outdoors under a CovidSafe plan. 300 people are now allowed at funerals. Outdoor church services can host up to 500.
?? The Premier has said the cap of 20 visitors at a private home remains in place, but she's flagged a possible change soon for people who have large outdoor spaces at home.
?? NYE fireworks in Sydney will go ahead with a short 7-minute display, but the only people allowed to attend will be city residents and a small number of nurses and other frontline workers who will be issued permits.
?? Meanwhile, NSW has recorded zero community transmission for the 12th day in a row, and 20 days in a row for Victoria.
?? The Hunter-New England region has now gone 104 days without a locally-acquired case.
?? There were 5 new cases among the returned travellers in NSW hotel quarantine.
?? In some positive news nationally, SA has recorded no new cases in the past 24 hours.
?? Australia's death toll remains at 907 with the NSW toll still at 55 and Victoria's at 819.
?? The number of active cases in NSW is 19 (all returned overseas travellers). There are 3 active cases in Victoria, 12 in QLD, 18 in WA, 35 in SA, 8 in the NT and 1 in the ACT. Tasmania remains Covid-free.
?? Please continue to stay safe, vigilant, maintain the social distancing, and wear a mask if you have to visit places where social distancing is difficult.
