COVID UPDATE - Monday December 28
Sadly, NSW has recorded its first Covid-related death since September, a Sydney man aged in his 70s.
The good news is that case numbers in the Northern Beaches cluster continue to fall, just 5 in the 24 hours to 8pm, although test numbers were again down on previous days. All new cases are linked to the cluster, although one is still under investigation.
Still no ‘seeding’ in areas outside the Northern Beaches.
There were 9 new cases among the returned overseas travellers over the past 24 hours.
Locally, the Hunter-New England region has now gone 143 days without a locally-acquired case.
Australia's death toll now stands at 909 with 56 in NSW and 820 in Victoria.
NSW now has 139 active cases (as at 8pm). Victoria has 11, there are 13 QLD, 13 in WA, 5 in SA, 1 in TAS and 11 in the NT. The ACT has zero. (All States except NSW include overseas traveller cases in their 'active case' numbers. In NSW, the traveller cases are included in the 'being treated' figure in the graphic below.)
Please continue to stay safe, vigilant, maintain the social distancing, and wear a mask if you have to visit places where social distancing is difficult.
Don't forget, if you have any symptoms, however minor, please self-isolate and get tested as soon as possible.
