?? COVID UPDATE - Thursday January 7
?? NO COMMUNITY TRANSMISSION ??
?? There was no community transmission anywhere in NSW in the 24 hours to 8pm. There were 6 new cases among the returned overseas travellers, however, and they have of course been in quarantine since their return.
?? The Hunter-New England region has now gone 153 days without a locally-acquired case.
?? There’s been a lot of comment regarding tomorrow night’s soccer match in Newcastle and fans visiting from Sydney. Please see my posts from yesterday for responses.
?? Please also remember that the wearing of masks is now mandatory if you’re visiting most indoor places on the Central Coast or Greater Sydney.
?? Australia's death toll remains at 909 with 56 in NSW and 820 in Victoria.
?? NSW has 196 active cases (as at 8pm). Victoria has 38, there are 20 in QLD, 18 in WA, 10 in SA and 16 in the NT. Tasmania and the ACT have zero. (All States except NSW include overseas traveller cases in their 'active case' numbers. In NSW, the traveller cases are included in the 'being treated' figure in the graphic below.)
?? Please continue to stay safe, vigilant, maintain the social distancing, and wear a mask if you have to visit places where social distancing is difficult.
?? Don't forget, if you have any symptoms, however minor, please self-isolate and get tested immediately.
