?? COVID UPDATE - Friday January 8
?? There were 4 new cases of community transmission recorded in NSW in the 24 hours to 8pm. Two are linked to the Berala cluster, one to the Croydon cluster and one on the Northern Beaches which is under investigation. There were also 7 new cases among the returned overseas travellers.
?? Please see my earlier post regarding crowds at sporting venues, and restrictions which start locally with the Jets match in Newcastle tonight.
?? The Hunter-New England region has now gone 154 days without a locally-acquired case.
?? Please also remember that the wearing of masks is now mandatory if you’re visiting most indoor places on the Central Coast or Greater Sydney.
?? Australia's death toll remains at 909 with 56 in NSW and 820 in Victoria.
?? NSW has 197 active cases (as at 8pm). Victoria has 39, there are 23 in QLD, 18 in WA, 12 in SA and 17 in the NT. Tasmania and the ACT have zero. (All States except NSW include overseas traveller cases in their 'active case' numbers. In NSW, the traveller cases are included in the 'being treated' figure in the graphic below.)
?? Please continue to stay safe, vigilant, maintain the social distancing, and wear a mask if you have to visit places where social distancing is difficult.
?? Don't forget, if you have any symptoms, however minor, please self-isolate and get tested immediately.
