¿ COVID UPDATE - Sunday July 25 ¿
¿ I don’t know if anyone from the local area took part in the Sydney protests yesterday, but if you did, you should get tested immediately for Covid as well as for stupidity and selfishness.
¿ Sadly, two more deaths were recorded in Sydney overnight - a Sydney woman in her 30s with no pre-existing medical conditions, and a woman in her 70s from SW Sydney.
¿ There were 141 new cases of community transmission in Sydney in the 24 hours to 8pm last night. Of those people, 62 were fully or partially active in the Sydney community while infectious before their positive test.
¿ There are 141 people in NSW hospitals with Covid-related illness with 43 people in ICU and 18 on ventilators.
¿ It’s now been 353 days without any community transmission in the Lake Macquarie-Newcastle area.
¿ I’m also aware of four cases just to our south at Budgewoi but I want to stress that these cases do not pose any risk to the community. The case includes a tradie who was already isolating after working on a building site in Sydney where an infectious person worked. That tradie and three household members have all tested positive but were in isolation for the duration of their infectious period. There is, however, an exposure site at Budgewoi - Stockade Butchery last Thursday between 3.40 and 4pm.
¿ My thanks to everyone doing the right thing, protecting themselves, their families and loved ones, and their broader communities. What we saw in Sydney yesterday was both mind blowing and sickeningly selfish.
¿ Please remember to use common sense when moving around the place and get tested immediately if you experience any symptoms. Please stay vigilant and stay safe!
