¿ COVID UPDATE - Monday July 26 ¿
¿ We have a fair bit to get through today so please stick with me.
¿ Firstly, please see my earlier posts about cases just to our south on the Central Coast. There are five confirmed cases at Budgewoi from the same household. The movement of one household member has led to a large number of exposure sites at Westfield Tuggerah, Lakehaven, San Remo and Budgewoi. Please follow the NSW Health advice in those posts if you have visited those areas in the past week.
¿ The CC situation has led to a large number of people being tested at Morisset and this is causing some traffic delays in town. Again, people from the Central Coast are allowed to visit testing centres anywhere as it’s absolutely imperative that people get tested. Police are on scene and managing the movement of people in those queues and in the area.
¿ There were 145 new cases of community transmission in Sydney in the 24 hours to 8pm last night. Of those people, 51 were in the Sydney community while infectious before their positive test.
¿ There are 156 people in NSW hospitals with Covid-related illness with 44 people in ICU and 18 on ventilators. As reported yesterday, two more people have died, meaning eight people have now died in the Sydney outbreak.
¿ It’s now been 354 days without any community transmission in the Lake Macquarie-Newcastle area.
¿ In regards to restrictions, and what they might be beyond July 31, the Premier has said today that an announcement will be made in coming days.
¿ Please remember to use common sense when moving around the place and get tested immediately if you experience any symptoms. Please stay vigilant and stay safe!
