I'm actually a bit saddened to report that today will be the last day Superintendent Danny Sullivan spends as Commander of Lake Macquarie Police District.
Danny has taken up a position as Commander of Orana Mid-Western Police District, and we will certainly miss his presence in the local area.
Danny has worked tirelessly with me on many local policing issues. Under his watch, he led the specialised campaign to significantly reduce the rates of street crime in the Cardiff area and in other parts of our community.
He led the push on local road safety, cracking down on the hoons and brought the highway patrol base to Morisset. He's also helped me push for more police numbers in the Morisset area - we now have more police locally than ever before.
More than anything, Danny has worked tirelessly at a grassroots level in the local community and earned the respect of many.
He is a great friend and I know he will always be a great friend of Lake Macquarie where he has lived and worked for many years.
Stepping into Danny's role will be Superintendent Rashelle Conroy who comes to the area with very high recommendations. I'm certainly looking forward to working with Supt Conroy in the years ahead.
For now though, I wish Danny and his family all the very best as they make the trip west.
Thanks for all that you have done to keep our community safe, Danny. You leave us in a better position than you found us in!
