¿ 1pm UPDATE - Tuesday August 10 ¿
¿ Just a couple of things I want to address quickly.
¿ LOCKDOWN: I personally think there's zero chance of the current restrictions being lifted on Friday. I expect the Premier to make a further announcement tomorrow.
¿ BUSINESS SUPPORT: I've been in touch with the Premier's office again today seeking to have the financial support offered to Sydney businesses extended to those in our region. I hope to hear more in coming days.
¿ CARPOOLING is currently not allowed in our region by people from different households. You are allowed to carpool in instances where it's required for your work such as police officers working in a team of two people, or a team of removalists working together. Masks compulsory in the vehicle. More details here.
¿ TEST RESULTS. I know some people are waiting up to three days, sometimes more for Covid test results to come back. The labs are currently trying to process more than 100,000 tests a day. They are under extraordinary stress so please be patient.
¿ EXPOSURE SITES: New exposure sites in the local area are being regularly updated on my website. You can view the updated list here.
¿ NEW TESTING FACILITY: A new privately-run drive-through testing facility will open tomorrow at Speers Point after approval was fast-tracked by Lake Mac council to take the load off Hillsborough Rd. Full details and location here.
¿ CASE CONTACTS: NSW Health sends a text message to people who have checked in at CLOSE CONTACT venues with further information. They usually make a follow-up call to close contacts to discuss the isolation and testing requirements, but it doesn't happen in every case. If you have not received a text message, but think you're a close contact at an exposure site, phone 1800 943 553. CASUAL CONTACTS get a text message from NSW Health ordering them to get tested and isolate until they get a negative result. They should not expect a further notification from NSW Health.
¿ Fact sheet for close contacts here.
¿ Fact sheet for casual contacts here.
¿ THE RULES: I try to answer every question I get on the rules but I can't get to them all. Service NSW has a 24-hour hotline available if you need a question answered urgently about the Stay At Home rules. They're on 13 77 88.
¿ Please stay safe, stay vigilant and stay home unless absolutely necessary.
