¿ STATEWIDE: There was a record 1431 new cases recorded throughout NSW in the 24 hours to 8pm last night. Sadly, another unwanted record: 12 deaths were recorded over the past 24 hours, all in the Sydney region.
¿ HOSPITALISATIONS: There are 979 people currently being treated for Covid-19 in NSW hospitals, with 160 in ICU and 64 requiring ventilators.
¿ There have been 119 COVID-19 related deaths in NSW since 16 June 2021, and 175 in total since the start of the pandemic.
There have been 25,002 locally acquired cases reported since 16 June 2021, when the first case in this outbreak was reported.
¿ MANDALONG MINE CASE: I was advised this morning that a person working at the Mandalong mine near Morisset has tested positive to Covid-19. The worker lives in the Newcastle area. All contacts of the worker are being tested and are isolating as per usual practice and Centennial Coal is undertaking a deep clean of all related areas. At this stage, there are no other exposure sites identified.
¿ TREE LOPPERS FINED: The tree loppers from Sydney I reported yesterday have been fined a total of $33,000 by police for breaches of the travel and mask rules. Sadly, the potential damage caused by these guys may be already done. We'll have to wait and see.
¿ EXPOSURE SITES: HNE Health has released a number of new exposure sites since my last update. They include sites at Charlestown, Charlestown Square, Whitebridge and Shoal Bay. More details here.
¿ TESTING: Testing numbers in the local area remain low and are a concern. Please get tested if you experience the mildest of symptoms, particularly if you've been near any of the exposure locations.
¿ QUESTIONS: Please see my Facebook or Website pages for answers to frequently asked questions. Service NSW also has a 24/7 hotline where people are available to answer questions. You can reach them on 13 77 88.
¿ STAY SAFE, stay vigilant, and stay home unless you absolutely have to go somewhere
