¿ COVID UPDATE - 11.10am Wednesday September 15
¿ Not the best news today with another 27 new cases reported in the Hunter Region in the 24 hours to 8pm last night. These new cases take the total number in the current outbreak to 351. There are currently 201 active cases in the local region. While one local person has died, 149 local people have now fully recovered.
¿ OF THOSE NEW CASES:
¿¿ 8 are from Lake Macquarie LGA
- 2 in Charlestown
- 2 in Mount Hutton
- 1 in Cardiff South
- 1 in Windale
- 1 in Fishing Point
- 1 in Wyee Point
¿¿ 7 are from Newcastle LGA
- 5 in Mayfield
- 1 in Hamilton South
- 1 in Elermore Vale
¿¿ 7 are from Maitland LGA
- 6 in Tenambit
- 1 in Beresfield
¿¿ 3 are from Cessnock LGA
- 2 in Cessnock
- 1 in Cliftleigh
¿¿ 2 are from Port Stephens LGA
- 1 in Shoal Bay
- 1 in Fingal Bay
¿ 12 local people are being cared for in hospital. 0 are
in ICU.
¿ 13 of those new cases are linked to two separate clusters (Mayfield/Charlestown and Tenambit). The sources for these clusters are unknown.
- 9 are linked and sources known.
- 2 are not linked and source is unknown
- 3 remain under investigation
¿ Of the new cases, 12 were infectious in the community, 12 were isolating while infectious, 3 are still under investigation.
We also have 555 close contacts in the local area who are in isolation.
¿ EXPOSURE SITES: HNE Health has released details of several new exposure sites in the local area. They include two sites at Wangi Wangi and others at Warners Bay, Newcastle Courthouse, Mayfield, Hamilton South, Newcastle West, Heatherbrae and Taylors Beach. ¿ TESTING: Of concern, testing rates in the Hunter region are now 75% lower than they were a month ago, yet we currently have higher case numbers. We really can't afford to be too complacent at the moment. If you experience any symptoms, please get tested as a precaution.
¿ STATEWIDE: There were 1259 new cases reported throughout NSW in the 24 hours to 8pm last night. Sadly, 12 more deaths were recorded over the past 24 hours, all in Sydney.
¿ HOSPITALISATIONS: There are 1241 people currently being treated for Covid-19 in NSW hospitals, with 234 in ICU and 108 requiring ventilators.
¿ VACCINATIONS: Across NSW, 79.5 per cent of the over-16 population has received a first dose COVID-19 vaccine, and 47.5 per cent are fully vaccinated to 11:59pm on Monday 13 September 2021.
