¿ COVID UPDATE - 11.10am Saturday September 18
¿ Not the best news today with local numbers climbing again. There were 30 new cases reported in the Hunter Region in the 24 hours to 8pm last night. These new cases take the total number in the local outbreak to 421.
¿ There are currently 256 active cases in the local region. While one local person has died, 164 local people have now fully recovered.
¿ OF THOSE NEW CASES:
¿¿ 16 are from Lake Macquarie LGA
- 4 in West Wallsend
- 3 in Morisset
- 2 in Barnsley
- 1 in Arcadia Vale
- 1 in Belmont North
- 1 in Booragul
- 1 in Dudley
- 1 in Mount Hutton
- 1 in Rathmines
- 1 in Warners Bay
¿¿ 7 are from Newcastle LGA
- 1 in Elermore Vale
- 1 in Lambton
- 1 in Maryville
- 1 in Mayfield
- 1 in New Lambton
- 1 in Shortland
- 1 in Waratah
¿¿ 5 are from Maitland LGA
- 3 in Rutherford
- 1 in East Maitland

¿ STATUS AND CLOSE CONTACTS: Of those new cases, 19 are linked, 5 are unlinked and 6 are still under investigation. 16 were infectious in the community, 8 were isolating while infectious and 6 are still under investigation. We also have 506 close contacts in isolation in the local region.
¿ 15 local people are being cared for in hospital. Two are
in ICU.
¿ EXPOSURE SITES: Hunter-New England Health has named a number of new exposure sites overnight. The latest sites include locations at Glendale, Edgeworth, Cameron Park, Cessnock, Jesmond, Mayfield and Raymond Terrace. Full details are on my website HERE.
¿ STATEWIDE: There were 1331 new cases reported throughout NSW in the 24 hours to 8pm last night. Sadly, another 6 deaths were recorded over the past 24 hours.
¿ There have been 228 COVID-19 related deaths in NSW since 16 June 2021, and 284 in total since the start of the pandemic.
There have been 45,085 locally acquired cases reported since 16 June 2021, when the first case in this outbreak was reported.
¿ HOSPITALISATIONS: There are now 1219 people currently being treated for Covid-19 in NSW hospitals, with 233 in ICU and 123 requiring ventilators.
¿ VACCINATIONS: Across NSW, 81.2 per cent of the over-16 population has received a first dose COVID-19 vaccine, and 50.6 per cent are fully vaccinated to 11:59pm on Thursday 16 September 2021. The total number of vaccines administered in NSW is now 8,720,728 with 3,183,957 doses administered by NSW Health to 8pm last night and 5,536,771 administered by the GP network and other providers to 11:59pm on Thursday 16 September 2021.
