¿ As I flagged in my post late yesterday, today's numbers have unfortunately increased sharply. There were 45 new cases reported in the Hunter Region in the 24 hours to 8pm last night. These new cases take the total number in the local outbreak to 521.
¿ OF THOSE NEW CASES:
¿¿ 19 are from Lake Macquarie LGA
- 4 in Toronto
- 4 in Cooranbong
- 3 in Mirrabooka
- 2 in Woodrising
- 1 in Mount Hutton
- 1 in Wangi Wangi
- 1 in Booragul
- 1 in Edgeworth
- 1 in Windale
- 1 in Blackalls Park

- 4 in Newcastle
- 3 in Wallsend
- 3 in Birmingham Gardens
- 2 in Newcastle East
- 1 in Mayfield

¿ STATUS AND CLOSE CONTACTS: Of those 45 new cases, 28 are linked, 10 are unlinked and 7 are still under investigation.
In total, 29 were infectious in the community, 10 were isolating while infectious and 6 are still under investigation.
We now have 804 close contacts in the local area who are in isolation.
¿ ACTIVE: There are currently 342 active cases in the local region.
¿ 11 local people are being cared for in hospital. None are
in ICU.
¿ EXPOSURE SITES: New exposure sites include the newsagency and butchery at Toronto and sites at Windale, Mayfield, Edgeworth, Glendale, Cameron Park and Beresfield. More details on the new sites and a link to the full list of exposure sites can be found on my website HERE.
¿ STATEWIDE: There were 1035 new cases reported throughout NSW in the 24 hours to 8pm last night. Sadly, another five deaths were recorded over the past 24 hours.
¿ There have been 260 COVID-19 related deaths in NSW since 16 June 2021 and 316 in total since the start of the pandemic. There have been 49,082 locally acquired cases reported since 16 June 2021, when the first case in this outbreak was reported.
¿ HOSPITALISATIONS: There are now 1232 people currently being treated for Covid-19 in NSW hospitals, with 242 in ICU and 122 requiring ventilators.
¿ PRIORITY VACCINATIONS: Priority vaccination appointments are available at the Belmont vaccination hub for health care workers, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members, school and child care staff, Year 12 students and pregnant women. ¿ VACCINATION RATES: Across NSW, 83 per cent of the over-16 population has received a first dose COVID-19 vaccine, and 54.2 per cent are fully vaccinated to 11.59pm on Monday 20 September 2021.
¿ TESTING: Testing rates in the Hunter region remain worrying low. Please don't be complacent. If you experience any symptoms, please get tested as a precaution.
