For the second day running, the Hunter-New England health district has unfortunately recorded the second highest number of new cases in the State.

¿ COVID UPDATE - 11.10am Sunday October 17
¿ For the second day running, the Hunter-New England health district has unfortunately recorded the second highest number of new cases in the State. There were 73 new cases in the district in the 24 hours to 8pm. These new cases take the total number in the latest Hunter outbreak to 2198. (I will post the latest vaccination stats by local postcode at 3pm today).
¿ Sadly, two more deaths were recorded in the region overnight - a woman in her 50s from Newcastle and a woman in her 70s from Cessnock. Another death was also recorded on the Central Coast.

cared for in hospital. 3 are currently in ICU.
¿ 45 are linked, 15 are unlinked, and 13 are still
under investigation.
¿ 27 were infectious in the community. 33 were
isolating while infectious. 13 are still under
investigation.

- 91.9% of people aged 16+ have had one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine
- 80% of people aged 16+ have had two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine
- 69,107 tests
- 301 new locally acquired cases
- 0 new overseas acquired cases
- 619 people in hospital
- 137 people in ICU
- 10 deaths
¿ POP-UP VAX CLINIC AT TORONTO: Just a reminder that there's a pop-up Pfizer vaccination clinic at Toronto today (Sunday October 17). It's being held at Toronto Community Health centre, 6 James St from 10am to 2pm. Open to everyone aged 12+, but children 12-15 must be accompanied by an adult.
¿ TESTING: Testing remains a really important part of our battle with Covid-19. Please don't be complacent. If you experience any symptoms, get tested as soon as possible.
