The Voluntary Assisted Dying Bill for the terminally ill has now completely passed the lower house and will go to the upper house in February.

It's been an extraordinary effort from so many people, especially my independent colleague and great friend Alex Greenwich.

My thanks also to everyone at Dying with Dignity NSW, Andrew Denton and everyone at Go Gentle Australia.

Thank you also to everyone back home in Lake Macquarie who has supported this reform, including all of the other local MPs and co-sponsors including Kate Washington MP, Tim Crakanthorp MP, Sonia Hornery MP, Jodie Harrison MP, Yasmin Catley MP, Clayton Barr MP and Jenny Aitchison MP.

We have one more mountain to climb, and it will be a tough one, but we remain determined to see this through.

Your choice is worth fighting for.
