Happy New Year everyone! Here’s hoping 2022 is the year we finally get our lives back to normal. Here’s todays update. There were 1811 new cases in the health district with 425 in Lake Macquarie.

¿ There were 1811 new cases in the health district with 425 in Lake Macquarie.
¿ Hunter Region: 1505 new cases.
¿ We now have 6060 active cases in the Health District. ( This is well down on yesterday’s figure but is due to the changes in isolation rules for people infected and being released from isolation sooner.)
¿ The number of people in local hospitals is creeping up, but the number remains good all things considered. We now 45 have people being cared for in our hospitals and 3 in ICU.
¿ Statewide: 22,577 new cases, and four more deaths.
¿ Of the new cases in the health district:

- 496 are from Newcastle LGA
- 425 are from Lake Macquarie LGA
- 241 are from Maitland LGA
- 174 are from Port Stephens LGA
- 146 are from Mid Coast LGA
- 103 are from Cessnock LGA
- 53 are from Tamworth Reg. LGA
- 45 are from Singleton LGA
- 37 are from Narrabri LGA
- 31 are from Moree Plains LGA
- 20 are from Armidale LGA
- 9 are from Walcha LGA
- 9 are from Muswellbrook LGA
- 8 are from Upper Hunter LGA
- 4 are from Dungog LGA
- 2 are from Gunnedah LGA
- 2 are from Inverell LGA
- 2 are from Liverpool Plains LGA
- 2 are from Uralla LGA
- 1 is from Gwydir LGA
- 1 is from Tenterfield LGA
¿ STATEWIDE
- 95% of people aged 16+ have had one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine
- 93.6% of people aged 16+ have had two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine
- 81.5% of people aged 12-15 have had one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine
- 78.2% of people aged 12-15 have had two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine
- 119,278 tests
- 22,577 total new cases
- 901 people in hospital
- 79 people in ICU
- 4 deaths
