Covid update - Thursday

As expected, case numbers have climbed significantly today as people are retrospectively registering cases confirmed by Rapid Antigen Tests since January 1. The bulk of those cases occurred in the first week of the year, but I expect numbers to remain high

¿ As expected, case numbers have climbed significantly today as people are retrospectively registering cases confirmed by Rapid Antigen Tests since January 1. The bulk of those cases occurred in the first week of the year, but I expect numbers to remain high for at least the next few days as the numbers catch up and we get a true picture of where things are at.
¿ You'll also notice in the graphic below that NSW Health is now including a percentage figure for those who have received their third ('booster') vaccination (currently 21.6%), and the vaccination rate for children aged 5-11 (currently 4%).
¿ In the 24 hours to 8pm last night:
- 558 new cases in Lake Macquarie.
- 2491 new cases in the Hunter-New England Health district.
- 1856 new cases in the Hunter Region
¿ Local people with Covid in hospital: 105. In ICU: 13.
¿ Total active cases in our health district: 29,196
¿ Statewide: 92,264 new cases, and 22 more deaths.
¿ Sadly, a man from the Cessnock area is among those deaths. My sincere condolences go out to his family and friends.

- 95.1% of people aged 16+ have had one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine
- 93.7% of people aged 16+ have had two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine
- 21.6% of people have had three doses of a COVID-19 vaccine*
- 81.7% of people aged 12-15 have had one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine
- 78.2% of people aged 12-15 have had two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine
- 4% of people aged 5-11 have had one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine
- 2,383 hospitalisations
- 182 people in ICU
- 22 lives lost
- 92,264 positive tests: 61,387 RAT, 30,877 PCR
