Covid update - Friday

It's not a milestone we wanted to see, but a record 46 lives were lost to Covid statewide in the past 24 hours, taking the NSW toll to more than 1000 since the pandemic began. Among those 46 deaths are 3 from the local region -

¿ It's not a milestone we wanted to see, but a record 46 lives were lost to Covid statewide in the past 24 hours, taking the NSW toll to more than 1000 since the pandemic began. Among those 46 deaths are 3 from the local region - two men and one woman. One was aged in their 60s, one was aged in their 70s and one was aged in their 90s. Two are from the Newcastle LGA and one is from the Singleton LGA. My sincere condolences to their families and friends.
¿ On a positive note, case numbers and hospitalisation/ICU numbers are mostly stable, raising hope that we've moved beyond the peak of the current Omicron wave. Latest figures below.
¿ Covid patients currently in Hunter Health district hospitals: 100 (up 8 since yesterday)
¿ Covid patients in Hunter ICU: 6 (up 1 since yesterday)
¿ Covid patients currently in NSW hospitals: 2743 (down 38 since yesterday)
¿ Covid patients in NSW ICU: 209 (down 3 since yesterday)
¿ New cases in Hunter Health district since yesterday: 2738, down 173 on previous day (1745 PCR and 993 RAT)
¿ New cases statewide since yesterday: 25,168 (PCR 15,1537 + 10,015 RAT, down 5657 on the previous day)
¿ STATEWIDE VACCINATION RATES
- 95.3% of people aged 16+ have had one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine
- 93.9% of people aged 16+ have had two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine
- 30.3% of people have had three doses of a COVID-19 vaccine*
- 82.4% of people aged 12-15 have had one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine
- 78.3% of people aged 12-15 have had two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine
- 21.7% of people aged 5-11 have had one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine
