Bonnells Bay Progress Association

BONNELLS BAY PROGRESS ASSOCIATION

Mr GREG PIPER (Lake Macquarie) [1.23 p.m.]: After many years of dedicated community work, the current executive of Bonnells Bay Progress Association will soon retire. While regrettable, it is understandable as each of them has given more than requested and more than expected. Col Roach has held the position of president for the past 15 years and has been supported by Phyllis Hines, Joan Buckingham and Roger McCarthy. In an era when such organisations have been in decline, Col and his relentless support team have worked hard to keep their association both relevant and of value to their local community.

Over the years their work has kept the Bonnells Bay community informed of significant local issues, including residential development on the Morisset peninsula and tourism development at Trinity Point. They have partnered the local public school community in seeking to address traffic safety for students and have also been great supporters of local small businesses. Our community would be far poorer without the work of these people. I wish to formally recognise their outstanding efforts and record my thanks and the thanks of the community for their years of work for others.
