I would like to acknowledge the exemplary career of Alan Robinson who has recently retired from the NSW Rural Fire Service after nearly 60 years. Alan joined the Blaxland Volunteer NSW Bush Fire Brigades in 1967. He has been involved in many campaign fires and significant fire seasons, including the 1968 Blue Mountains bushfires, 1974 to 1975 bushfire season, 1977 Blue Mountains fires, 1984 to 1985 and 1994 bushfire seasons, 2001 Black Christmas Fires, 2019 Black Summer fires and many others throughout his career His efforts have been recognised with a host of medals and awards including the National Medal, National Medal Clasp 1, RFS Long Service Award 15 years, RFS Long Service Award 25 years and in 2006 he was awarded the prestigious 'Australian Fire Service Medal' for his dedication as a firefighter and his work in designing and constructing the RFS' first purpose built mobile communications vehicle. Alan closed out his distinguished career as a Deputy Captain at Peninsula Rural Fire Brigade. Thank you, Alan for your commitment to keeping our community safe and I wish you a wonderful and well-deserved retirement.
