More than 30 years of volunteer service is an extraordinary achievement, and it was wonderful to see David Bennett recognised at the recent 2026 NSW RFS Central Coast Volunteer Appreciation Day and Medal Presentation. David was presented with the NSW RFS Long Service Medal 2nd Clasp in acknowledgement of 31 years of dedicated service to the community through the Rural Fire Service. Beginning his service with Davidson Brigade in 1994 before later transferring to Dora Creek Brigade, David has consistently contributed both operationally and through brigade leadership roles. Currently serving as Deputy Captain, he has also dedicated considerable time to supporting member training and safety as a Training Officer and Health & Safety Officer. Holding qualifications through to Crew Leader level, David's long involvement with the RFS has seen him support communities through major fire seasons and emergency operations over many years. His commitment has previously been recognised through the National Medal, the Premier's Bushfire Emergency Citation and the National Emergency Medal and Clasp for service during the Black Summer Bushfires. David's service is a testament to the dedication and community spirit that underpins volunteer emergency services across New South Wales.
