I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Ron Hansard of Kilpatrick Court Residential Aged Care in Toronto, who turns 100 on the 7th June 2025.

I've known of Ron for many years, as he takes an active interest in the community and has availed me of his wisdom through numerous letters. But, it was only last week that I had the privilege of meeting him in person, and I thoroughly enjoyed hearing about his long and prosperous life.

While there's no doubt Ron is passionate about the Lake Macquarie area, the real loves of his life are undoubtedly his family, namely his adored wife Margaret who sadly passed in February, their four children John, Glenn, Michael and Lisa, and grandchildren Joshua, Luke, Daniel, James, Megan and Maggie.

On the subject of Ron's family, an interesting fact is that Ron is a direct descendant of Thomas Curson Hansard, who was a British printer best known for publishing the official reports of debates in the UK Parliament, which became, and are still known as, Hansard.

I hope you have a wonderful 100th birthday Ron.
