For the past 60 years, members of the Toronto and District Brass Band have brought a little bit of musical magic to a myriad of Lake Macquarie events. Whether it's through annual performances at Anzac Day ceremonies, community festivals, hosting concerts or fostering budding musicians' talents via their junior arm, Catalina Brass, the band has a long and proud tradition of enriching Lake Macquarie's musical amenity. Recently, the band expressed a desire to increase their presence on the national brass band competition scene. For this they required funding to purchase bespoke instruments, which were cost prohibitive to individuals. In recognition of the decades of service the band has provided to Lake Macquarie, I was pleased to support this request and congratulate band members on securing $24,293 through the NSW Government's Community Building Partnership program. These instruments will also enhance rehearsal quality, broaden participation opportunities, and support both seasoned and emerging local musicians. I also thank past and present members of the Toronto and District Brass Band for all they have done, and continue to do, to spread the joy of music throughout Lake Macquarie.
