Lake Macquarie is home to so many fantastic volunteer-run organisations, and I congratulate the incredible work of the volunteers at Wyee Community Hub, who recently went above and beyond to give our seniors a truly special day. I had the pleasure of attending the Hub's inaugural Seniors Fun Day, a wonderful celebration as part of the 2026 Seniors Week festivities. The event brought local seniors together for a day of connection, fun and support, while also highlighting the importance of men's health and wellbeing. It was inspired by community feedback showing the need to reduce loneliness and social isolation in Wyee. The day featured a range of activities, performances, giveaways, food, opportunities to socialise, and free health checks. By all accounts, it was a huge success. The Wyee Community Hub already provides outstanding support for the community through programs including affordable food hampers and markets, clothing and essential items, and wellbeing and social connection initiatives, all of which play a vital role supporting families. I sincerely thank the volunteers and organisers who made the day possible, and I look forward to this becoming an annual event for Wyee.
