Ian and Leanda Guy are an extraordinary couple from Coal Point, who embody selfless dedication and excellence as volunteers with the Marine Rescue Lake Macquarie unit. They have not only committed themselves to serving our community but have also showcased their remarkable skills in the angling categories of the 2024 Police and Emergency Services Games held in Shoalhaven last month. Ian and Leanda won an impressive 12 medals between them, with Leanda awarded the gold medal in the overall women's competition and Guy taking home the silver in the overall men's category. They braved horrific weather conditions over the three-day-long competition but still managed to bag a swathe of medals including five each in the offshore and species categories. The Guys have been members of the Teralba Fishing Club for more than a decade, and volunteers with the Marine Rescue Lake Macquarie unit for about three-and-a-half years. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Ian and Leanda on their outstanding accomplishment and thank them for their ongoing service to our community.
