I acknowledge two remarkable individuals, Kelvin and Julie Ward from Silverwater whose dedication to the Lake Macquarie community and the environment is truly inspiring. As founding leaders of the Sunshine and Silverwater Landcare Group, Kelvin and Julie have been instrumental in leading efforts to protect and restore the natural beauty of the Morisset Peninsula, particularly around Johnny's Point and Sunshine Park. Their commitment to environmental advocacy has not only enhanced the landscapes we all cherish, but also fostered a sense of community and responsibility for the environment. A great example of this is the instrumental role they played in having the boardwalk and path through Johnny's Point formalised, with a boardwalk through to Beach Road, opening the area for the enjoyment of all. In addition to caring for our environment, Kelvin and Julie have been dedicated volunteers with Southlakes Anglican Church driving buses to transport elderly parishioners to various activities and appointments on a weekly basis for some 30 years. Kelvin and Julie's longstanding dedication to the Morisset district is a wonderful example of how individuals can make a real difference in the world around them.
