Neave O'Reilly
It's no secret that New South Wales is in the midst of a trade-skills shortage, so it is heartening to hear one young Lake Macquarie resident is shaping up to be the best in the world at her chosen profession. After obtaining a Diploma of Nursing at Newcastle TAFE, 19-year-old Neave O'Reilly from Fassifern recently won a gold medal at the WorldSkills National Championship, in the Healthcare, Health and Social Care Skill category. She is now set to represent Australia at the 47th WorldSkills International Championships in September in Lyon, France, as part of the Skillaroo Training Squad. This event attracts more than 1500 of the world's most elite apprentices and trainees from across 85 nations, who will compete in over 65 skill categories. I would like to congratulate Neave on her impressive win at the National Championship and wish her the best luck when she takes on the world later this year.
