Tribute to Kelly Joy Hoare
I acknowledge the passing of former member for Charlton and my friend Kelly Joy Hoare. Kelly was elected to the House of Representatives for Charlton for the Australian Labor Party in 1998 and held the position until 2007, succeeding her father, Bob Brown. Kelly married Reg Hoare, and they went on to have two children, Naomi and Robert. Unfortunately, their marriage did not last, but they remained good friends until he passed away. Kelly was a wonderful caregiver. She supported him while he battled cancer and looked after her elderly parents, Elizabeth and Bob, during their final years. Kelly was involved in many organisations in Lake Macquarie. She was president of the Toronto Tidy Towns Committee, president of the Toronto Chamber of Commerce and supported many local organisations. Kelly worked for me as a relief electorate officer and in a community engagement role for many years up until her retirement. She had a love of travel and enjoyed many wonderful overseas trips with her partner, Lyn. Her passing was unexpected and sudden, and I extend my deepest sympathies to her partner, Lyn; her children, Naomi and Robert; her granddaughter, Jessica; and her brother, Brad.
