Really disappointed to learn that the Industrial Relations Commission has backed the State Government's planned wage freeze for public sector employees.

The IRC has ruled that a 0.3% increase be awarded instead of the planned 2.5% increase.

I totally understand that the pandemic has cost a lot of people their jobs, but this freeze will do little to improve that.

Both the State and Federal governments are wanting to stimulate the economy, yet $3 billion a year is about to be frozen out of it by denying wage increases to our frontline workers such as nurses, the very people who have kept going throughout the pandemic!

It doesn't make sense and, in my opinion, will only provide a short-term benefit to the Government's bottom line, but leave us in a worse position in the medium to long term.
