Having called for years for the state to provide an independent air quality monitor in Lake Macquarie, it’s now close to completion.

The location on the hill at Mirrabooka should make it extremely useful for “truthing” licence required monitors at Vales Point and Eraring Power Station as well as for detecting particulates from coal production and transport in our area.

The data from this monitor will add valuable information to the models for air quality in the larger area.

My thanks to Minister for the Environment, Matt Kean for agreeing to this long overdue investment in the largest energy producing area in the state.
