COVID UPDATE - Friday March 5
RESTRICTIONS ON PUBLIC SCHOOLS TO CHANGE
The Premier has announced an easing of Covid-related restrictions on public schools. From next Monday, March 8:
- Parents/carers can enter school grounds to drop off and pick up students as per the school's normal arrangements.
- Parents/carers can attend sporting or cultural events (indoors and out) at schools, in line with the normal requirements and distancing rules of non-school venues.
There were no new cases of community transmission anywhere in NSW over the past 24 hours - that's 47 consecutive days. There were 12 new cases among the returned overseas travellers in the past 24 hours.
The Hunter Region has now gone 211 days without a locally-transmitted case.
NSW has started including returned travellers in its 'active case' numbers in line with other States. NSW currently has 56 active cases (all are returned travellers in quarantine). There are 5 in Victoria, 21 in QLD, 3 in WA, 4 in SA, 2 in the ACT and 1 in the NT. Tasmania has zero active cases.
Australia's death toll remains at 909 with 56 in NSW and 820 in Victoria.
