COVID UPDATE - Monday March 15
As reported yesterday, NSW has recorded its first case of community transmission in almost two months. A security guard from a quarantine hotel in Sydney has been confirmed as having the highly-transmittable UK variant. None of the person's colleagues have yet returned a positive test result, and the person's family have all tested negative, so hopefully the case has been contained.
There were just 680 vaccinations in NSW yesterday, bringing the State's total so far to 37,500.
The Hunter Region has now gone 221 days without a locally-transmitted case.
NSW currently has 49 active cases (all but one are returned travellers in quarantine).
Australia's death toll remains at 909 with 56 of those in NSW.
