It's 15 years since keen sailor and cancer survivor Shaun Lewicki ran the first Heaven Can Wait sailing regatta on Lake Macquarie.

To date, the 24-hour annual event has raised more than $470,000 for the Cancer Council's Hunter branch and Marine rescue Lake macquarie.

It was great to catch up with Shaun again this morning as $33,000 in proceeds from this year's event were handed over.

The event is brilliantly supported by Mel Steiner and the Royal Motor Yacht Club Toronto, and through generous sponsorships from Marmong Point Marina and Rotary Club Toronto Sunrise.

My congratulations to Shaun, Mel and everyone else involved in this fantastic event which I know will be back bigger and better again next year.
