Police seek assistance after Kilaben Bay crash

A home at Kilaben Bay and several parked cars suffered extensive damage early this morning when a 4WD ploughed into them shortly after 4am. The driver of the 4WD, however, took off and is now the subject of a police hunt. Lake Macquarie Police are seeking assistance from anyone who may have CCTV or dashcam footage of Kilaben Road or surrounding streets.

An investigation is underway to identify the driver of a car that fled after crashing into a home in Lake Macquarie this morning.
About 4.15am (Wednesday 2 June 2021), emergency services were called to Kilaben Road, Kilaben Bay, after a white Land Rover Evoque had left the road way before colliding with a metal pole and the front of a home.
Police have been told a male driver was seen in the vehicle before he fled the scene on foot.
No one was physically injured during the incident, however the home has suffered extensive structural damage.
Two vehicles were also damaged from debris as a result.
Officers from Lake Macquarie Police District, with assistance from the Police Dog Unit, conducted extensive patrols of the nearby area however were unsuccessful.
Crews from Fire and Rescue NSW attended and assisted in removing the vehicle and securing the structure.
As inquiries continue, anyone who may have seen or heard anything between 4am and 4.15am in the Kilaben Bay area, or anyone who may have CCTV or dashcam footage from the surrounding streets is urged to contact Toronto Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
