¿ COVID UPDATE - Tuesday July 13 ¿
¿ Well, the news is a bit better today than it was yesterday. Still not good, but heading in the right direction!
¿ There were 89 new cases of community transmission reported in the 24 hours to 8pm (down from 112 on the previous day). Of those, 21 were in the community while infectious before their positive test (down from 48 the previous day). Sadly, the State has recorded another death - a man in his 70s from Sydney's eastern suburbs.
¿ I've had a few people tell me that police were pulling people over on Wyee Rd this morning, checking their reason for travelling between the Central Coast and Lake Macquarie. Remember, it's essential travel only (and yes, work is essential travel under the current public health order whether we agree with that or not).
¿ There are now 65 people being treated in the State's hospitals, with 21 now in ICU.
¿ Despite the rumours that get around on Facebook, we have NO cases being treated anywhere in the Hunter Region. There are three on the Central Coast, but those cases were acquired in Sydney and those people are isolating at home. They pose no risk to the CC or local communities. In fact, (touching wood) there have been no cases of community transmission north of the Hawkesbury Bridge during this latest outbreak.
¿ It's now been 341 days since the last community transmission in our area, but we have to stay vigilant to keep our good run going.
Stay safe!
