What isn’t great is that 167 amendments have been lodged, mostly by opponents seeking to further delay the Bill’s progression and water it down. It’s appalling politics, especially given that they've had five months to discuss the Bill with us before tonight's vote.
Nevertheless, the Bill has passed its first big hurdle. Debate on the amendments will continue well into the night and all day tomorrow, and will continue when Parliament resumes in February.
Thank you to everyone who has supported us so far. We're getting there!
