Alby Roberts
26th November 2021
Mr GREG PIPER (Lake Macquarie)—I wish one of Lake Macquarie's most beloved sailors, Alby Roberts, a very happy 92nd birthday. I have known Alby for many years and have always been impressed with his passion, dedication and true love of sailing. In particular his enthusiasm and championing of the Teralba Amateur Sailing Club. Alby is a long serving and life member of the Club, and has committed decades to the sport, mentoring and teaching generations of locals along the way. He is always quick to help those new to the sport and greatly enjoys the friendships and camaraderie of the Club. Members of the Club describe Alby as an absolute legend both on and off the water and a true gentleman. Two years ago, Alby's unwavering dedication to the Club was officially recognised, when its new rescue boat was christened the "Alby Roberts". It must also be noted that Alby's late wife, Jean, was also a beloved life member, and similarly, the start boat, "Lady Jean", was named in her honour. Happy Birthday Alby, I wish you the very best.
