Harry and Christine Spurr

16th February 2022

Mr GREG PIPER (Lake Macquarie)—It's not every day that people have the courage and strength to follow their dreams, but I'm proud to say that's exactly what one of my youngest constituents and his mother have done in the most public of ways. Five-year-old Harry Spurr and his mother Christine from Bonnells Bay blazed across television screens throughout Australia recently when they appeared on "The Voice Generations" in the blind audition round. Performing Cher's "If I could turn back time" they had the audience entertained and won high praise from the judges, bringing one to tears. While they didn't make it through this time, Harry was able to achieve another of his dreams by sitting in Keith Urban's chair, hitting the infamous red button and turning it around. Harry and Christine's talent is well known across Lake Macquarie. Harry started singing while he was still in nappies and was attending dance classes at the age of two, while Christine is a well-respected teacher at Triple Threat Academy and Performing Arts in Morisset. I think we will see big things from young Harry in the future and I wish him well.
