Len Wood
10th May 2022
Mr GREG PIPER (Lake Macquarie)—I'd like to acknowledge the passing of Leonard James Alexander Wood from Wyee who was a highly respected and much-loved community member. Known to friends and family as Len, he and his wife Janet moved to Wyee more than 30 years ago. Len joined Wyee Rural Fire Service brigade in 1991 and he remained an active member until recently. He served as president of the brigade from 1997 to 2003. He is remembered by his colleagues in the brigade as a dearly cherished man and a gentleman who always had a smile for everyone. An engineer by trade, Len often came up with practical solutions for things needed at the station. His skills were so highly prized that his work even took him to Japan. Len was an active community member and spent many years serving on the Wyee Hall Committee and for a time was its president. Len was also an avid train enthusiast who enjoyed travelling to Maitland to view vintage trains. I extend my deepest sympathies to Janet and the couple's four sons, Simon, Matthew, Andrew and Benjamin. Vale Len Wood.
