Geoff and Helen See
18th May 2022
Mr GREG PIPER (Lake Macquarie)—I'd like to acknowledge Geoff and Helen See for the many years of dedication they've given to the Lake Macquarie Rural Fire Service Welfare Brigade. Geoff and Helen joined the Rural Fire Service in 1999 and since then have proved to be absolutely invaluable assets, primarily through their catering roles. Geoff and Helen work hard to ensure Lake Macquarie-based RFS volunteers are provided with fresh and delicious meals during major incidents, hazard reduction burns and training days. They prepare up to 200 meals at a time, and I should note that these meals are highly regarded by volunteers. For more than a decade Geoff has been on call as the brigade's catering captain while Helen is the brigade's deputy catering captain. To date their efforts have been acknowledged with RFS long service medals in 2010, life memberships in 2018, and the Premier's Bushfire Emergency Citation in 2020. I recently had the pleasure of joining Geoff and Helen when they were presented with their National Emergency Medals which recognised their sustained service during the 2019 – 2020 bushfire season. I acknowledge their efforts and thank them for their extraordinary community service.
